There are many ways to give visible displays of love and signal the bounds of a relationship. Some of those signs are for people outside of the relationship so that they are aware that such boundaries exist.

The internal signs between the lovers are more important than the outward signs. How you show your love to one another is more important than how others view the two of you.

I say you express your love for another in as many ways as possible that has true meaning for the two of you. Do that well and everyone else will retain no doubt.
