Don and Sherry's 35th Wedding Anniversary

The above image, Worth Waiting For is also available as a Desktop Background

Today's song is Shangri-La by The Lettermen, released in 1969.

This year to celebrate our anniversary we went to Pasadena, to see that region of southern California. On the way there on I-5, we stopped at Bigs Pizza to eat dinner. To our surprise, we were randomly assigned marker #35 for our table.

On Saturday morning, we strolled parts of Old Town Pasadena looking for some interesting sights. I saw the street sign for Colorado Blvd., and began to look for the little old lady from that city who's the terror of that street (according to the Jan and Dean song). Lucky for us, the streets were safe from her that day. ;-)

Near one of the parks we saw this cool statue across the street from City Hall.

I just had to take this picture of Russell's restaurant. My Dad's name was Russell.

Sherry and I decided to take the Metro Gold Line Extension for a ride around the region. Tickets are only $1.25 one-way for each person, such a deal.

We stopped for a couple hours in Chinatown. We have now been in three ethnic Chinese sections: Chicago; San Francisco, and Los Angeles. We enjoyed lunch at the Golden Dragon Restaurant consisting of Egg Rolls and WanTon Soup, favorites of ours. Below is a shrine dedicated to Dr. Sun Yet-sen.

For our Anniversary Sherry helped me pick this cool jade necklace I now proudly wear.

Saturday night, we ate at the luxurious Houston's Restaurant in Pasadena. We enjoyed delicious steak and prime rib dinners. Their service is exceptional and I can see why their place is packed at dinner time!

Before returning home, we drove around Pasadena and found the Rose Bowl pictured below.

On Monday, I gave Sherry a dozen red roses and a card from me to celebrate. She gave me a nice card too! Oh, and I almost forgot, she gave me 35 kisses...

I received a very kind request from the California Department of Food and Agriculture: Division of Fairs and Expositions to use some of my Del Mar race track pictures in their literature. Of course, I gladly gave them my written permission for use without charge.

I published four new Desktop Backgrounds, in addition to Worth Waiting For, displayed near the top of this page:

On Tuesday night, Sherry and I went to see the new movie, The Forbidden Kingdom, enjoying the story very much. That rounded out five nights of anniversary celebrations for us.
