Artistic Influences

Today's song is Going In Circles by The Friends Of Distinction, released in 1969.

I watched a PBS Special on artists recently. I was greatly interested in Rembrandt and his works.

Rembrandt became an important artist in his day. He rose from obscurity using his natural talents and in later life, he lost almost everything he had. A rather full life I would say.

In looking at his paintings there is so much detail using oil paints and great brush strokes. Many of them almost seem like photographs to me.

I really like the self-portrait shown below, which is in the public domain.

Like my favorite artist, Vincent Van Gogh, Rembrandt captured life as he saw and felt it. They both told it like they saw it. That's why I like them so much.
