I like the 1965 song, Everyone's Gone to the Moon by Jonathan King. In fact, it's on my iTunes playlist.

It's a simple tune that means many things to me. The way I thought about it before my daughter was born was different from afterwards. If you have a child, you can probably relate to the lyrics. I suspect no two people would feel the same way though.

There are days when I really need to hear this song and sing along with it. I always associate it with feeling good, with the positive attributes of life going strong.

Sometimes I drift off while listening to the song and think of myself at other times in my life. Sometimes I imagine other outcomes in my life than the ones I've lived. There aren't that many songs that move me in the special way this song does. Part of the reason I enjoy it so much, is the fact that it expresses a simple harmony with lyrics that can mean anything good.

The most touching verse for me is the last one:

Those words conjure up images of my daughter as an infant too young to lift very much. In another moment it brings forth memories of her making brownies in the kitchen of our first home at about age six with Sherry and the chocolate mix smeared across her face covering that cute smile of hers. Those were the days...

Yes, I've been to the Moon -- many times. I go back there every time I hear this song.
