Yesterday I saw the movie, The New World. It's a story involving Pocahontas, a princess from the Algonquian Indians nation in the early 1600's.

The character, Pocahontas, is a reflective, internal young woman. Her expressions are delivered from deep within and convey much by the way of emotion. I appreciated the way she was not hesitant to show her emotions concerning almost everything she did. She was safe and sure in her ways. She did not withdraw from life, she embraced it openly.

I have known many women in my life. Most of them are not like Pocahontas. Those women are reluctant to express their emotions. They often say very little about themselves and use short, terse sentences when they communicate. They have emotions, their faces reveal them, but they typically do not disclose in other ways how they feel.

The women I've met that remind me of Pocahontas allow insights into who they are. Sometimes they share their deepest thoughts, they do so because trust is already established between us. I find often there is a lot of common ground in the conversation. The nuances they bring to the most intriguing parts of the dialog are interesting because they are divulged from the feminine perspective. A man would never express those aspects in the same way. A man's mind works differently.

This is not to say that the women who are not as open, never divulge their deepest thoughts to a man. I know they do. They are likely, in my opinion to restrict their expressions to only one man, perhaps their partner in a long-term relationship. Maybe that person fills that need in them 100% and if so, that is good.

That the other women who remind me of Pocahontas are less restrictive, or perhaps a better way to say it is, more selective in their options, allows a greater amount of discourse on the human existence between man and woman. My life has benefited from such special conversations and my mind enlightened by the discussion. I look forward to future encounters for more of the same.

There are many lessons to be learned from women and women can learn from men. One of the keys to wisdom on this subject is to find people who are internal and let it show in them.
