California Dreaming in 2005
![]() Saturday, January 22, 2005, Sherry, DJ, and I took a drive in our new 2005 Caravan up to Newport Beach and Long Beach, California. While much of the Midwest and East Coast was getting nailed by Winter, we were walking around in 70-degree weather on a typical sunny day. Here are some of the pictures in ".pdf" format. Our first stop was at the Apple Store in Newport Beach. Located in the beautiful, Fashion Island shopping center, it was the start of a wonderful day for the three of us. I purchased the new iLife '05 and iWork '05 applications. The store was jammed with people checking out the cool Apple products and purchasing the same applications I did. Then we went over to Neiman Marcus and checked-out their restaurant for another day-trip in the Spring. We left the Fashion Island shopping center and proceeded North on Pacific Coast Highway, known as Hwy 1, that shadows the coast much of the way to Long Beach. With the CD's playing and windows open, we had a great time checking out the expansive and lengthy beaches along the way. Our ultimate destination was, Bubba Gump Shrimp, a really cool restaurant (shown above) right across from the Aquarium of the Pacific at the Rainbow Harbor. Almost 40 years ago, The Mamas and Papas released a song that touched millions of souls, California Dreaming. I was one of those millions. Sherry and I moved to North County San Diego almost nine years ago. We never looked back. Part of why we are here is my dream of living in California, motivated to some extent long ago by, "California Dreaming". This trip is just one of the results of making that dream come true. Don
