Between The Giggles And Hugs

The above image is Vincent's Flowers

Today's song is Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me by Elton John, released in 1974.

Since last Friday afternoon I have been here in Chicago visiting with my family and friends. I am spending a lot of time with my granddaughter who is adorable. She and I chase each other around the house with her giggling all the time we do that. There's often a sweet smile on her face when she looks at me. I read her books and sometimes hum or whistle songs to her. She likes to sit on my lap and watch me work on the laptop, making various verbal sounds as different windows appear with images or Quicktime movies play. I take her to day care and pick her up afterwards, feeding her a snack when we get home. She is a such a cute little girl at 19 months old today.

On Monday I had a chance to meet up with Mike and Sandy whom I worked with in Chicago when we all were employed in the Quality Group at the global headquarters of A.T. Kearney, Inc.. We last saw each other in July 2003 during my summer trip back then. This visit we had a great time catching up with each other's lives in the last five years.

Tuesday morning I met for breakfast with my long-time friend and author Bob Katzman. I met Bob back in 1958 when we went to Caldwell School together, a mere 50 years ago. It's always good to discuss current events with Bob since we sometimes have vastly different opinions, but we appreciate the differences between us.

Another friend from Caldwell also named Bob is on my list to try to arrange a meeting with while I'm in town. I hope to get a chance to see him too.

Lastly, I need to meet with Marc, my Newbound, Inc., partner. He and I haven't seen each other since July 2003. In fact that was at the same meeting as Mike and Sandy was. My how time flies...

I return home to sunny San Diego on Saturday afternoon. In the meantime, I love being an in-person Grandfather here at my daughter's home, talking with her husband, Michael, and hugging their lovely daughter. After I leave, I won't see them again until the summer after my grandson is born.

All this activity takes place while this web site reaches the 3 million page view mark. This most recent million page views took less than a year to be accumulated. In April it will be six years since Time Out Of Mind started. I have enjoyed every minute of it along with you.
