In The Land Of Men
![]() Today's song is The Love I Lost by Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, released in 1973. Thursday, I went to see the new movie, In The Land Of Women. I enjoyed it a lot. A young man has his heart broken when his first love breaks up with him. In his attempt to get away from the pain, he travels to his ailing maternal Grandmother's house to help her for awhile. There he finds some of the answers he isn't even aware he is looking for and in the process helps out a few women he meets. Like many young men who lose their first love, I could relate to his story. Each man's particular story about such rites of passage is different, the lessons eventually learned are similar. The final lesson being that someone else is out there to love and they will love you back with as much love as you feel for them. Although some people find that equality in their first loves, most do not. Go see this movie and discover what the main character found out and see what you can relate to from your own experience.
One of Twin Oaks Toastmasters newest members is a hearty woman of strong spirit. She has a beautiful website of her own. I can tell from reading about her, she is a strong woman. I've written about other strong women on this site previously.
On Wednesday this week, I presented my sixth speech towards my AC Silver award in my Twin Oaks Toastmasters club. Two other members, Jackie and Tuan, helped me by speaking as part of my overall project from the advanced Technical Presentations manual. In a joint presentation we spoke about how we work together to provide technical assistance to the officers and all members of the club. We used a PowerPoint Presentation we created, Technical Volunteers to help the audience understand the services we provide as co-webmasters. Thanks Jackie and Tuan!
