Welcome Back France, Seriously!

The above image, Emotional Demarcations In Motion is also available as a Desktop

Today's song is A Sign Of The Times by Petula Clark, released in 1966.

Really good news today, French voters in record numbers have decided to turn their back on Leftist leaders and elected a center-right President to a five-year term. I guess enough French people felt like some U.S. elected Democrats currently do and decided to reverse their previous votes. U.S. Democratic Congress members should take note...

This is what the newly elected French President had to say, and it's very nice to hear him say it:

Sarkozy added that he wanted to tell his "American friends that they can rely on our friendship ... France will always be next to them when they need us."

Congratulations, Nicolas Sarkozy and welcome back France! I may start thinking about visiting France now that it's got a President that appreciates Americans. Vive la difference!

My sister sent me the following email following a speech she gave at a memorial service for family and friends of young cancer patients that passed away. My sister's youngest child, Katie, passed away in December 2005 from cancer at age 14. The service was held at the same hospital where Katie had been treated during the 18 months she fought her disease.

"On April 23, 2007 eight newly renovated rooms at the University of Maryland Hospital were dedicated to the New Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Inpatient Unit. The unit was paid for by the Children's Cancer Foundation.  Perry Hall Middle School, which Katie attended, participated in a Bowl-A-Thon against Cancer and dedicated it to Katie's memory.

They raised nearly $20,000, which the Children's Cancer Foundation set aside in Katie's name earmarked for the inpatient unit renovation. More donations, in Katie's name, arrived at the foundation and the Foundation honored Katie by listing her on the Plaque Outside the renovated rooms honoring those that made the renovation possible.

Doug, Kristin and I were invited to the dedication ceremony. You should look at the foundations web-site. It is run by an 83 (or 84) year old woman from her basement. I  went over to help one day. It's a tiny staff of 3 with one little computer and lots of love!! They have raised millions over the years!! What charity and fundraising really should be.

The Memorial service yesterday was beautiful. Run by the nursing staff and held at the University of Maryland's School of Nursing. An anesthesiologist and myself were the keynote speakers. It is a good place full of kind people that really care about the patient and their family both during and after their stay."

I downloaded and installed the new Silverlight from Microsoft. It's good to see Adobe's Flash given some competition.

Today's message ends with the following Digital Insight.

Evening Adventure (Created in December 2002)

From my own experiences, observations and discussions, I find that two people in a relationship, usually "discovered" each other in the evening. Maybe people are more receptive in the evening than the day; it is my interpretation it is that way.

To be sure, the daylight hours provide people a variety of ways to meet with opportunities of first introductions. It's the dinners and the occasions dedicated to the night that usually bring two people into full bloom with one another.

This image symbolizes the anticipation two people sense when their destinies are to be joined in some wonderful way and draw closely towards each other to make it so. Using my own words, I quote a portion from that page's narration:

"Night is almost upon them; the travelers of the evening. Somewhere out there is a new encounter and the two are lucky to have found each other to face what lies ahead. As it is with these two creatures, so it is with all living beings."
