I came across this wonderful humanitarian idea, Ample Harvest.org after reading an article about it on CNN's website. This is another example of how one person makes a difference in life. They also have a free iPhone application.

According to their literature, over 100 billion pounds of food is wasted annually. They say that is enough to eliminate hunger in America. I believe them.

I found a listing of community gardens in the San Diego area. I know they exist in many locations throughout our nation. I've thought a lot about gardening over the years and never took it up. We don't have a food garden here at home. Now I feel I should participate in this endeavor.

A little more than two years ago I was with a group of my former Toastmaster club members and we fed the needy one night. It was a very rewarding experience. I'm going to do some basic research and find out how I can contribute to growing food for the Ample Harvest program.
