Transfusions Of The Soul

Today's song is Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel, released in 1970.

To see the sparkle in another person's eyes when they tell me one of their ideas, exposing that inner-self within them, registers a warm and good feeling within me. That conveyance through the eyes is something I seek in my conversations. It doesn't always happen during a dialog, but when it does, it's magic come to life.

Today I will have the opportunity to see the sparkle in some of my friends from my Twin Oaks Toastmasters club as we gather together at our third Speech Marathon. From prior speech marathons [1; 2], I know something special will be presented, someone giving a speech will be reaching within them to tell their story from the heart. Their eyes will sparkle when they do. I've witnessed this before several times in our club. With a Harvest Moon in the heavens, it is almost a certainty.

How does one get in touch with their heart while giving a speech? Often it is because they learned from another doing the same or heard the right words from someone and the conduit between those participants transmitted the emotional exchange at just the right moment, triggering this new recognition within their total being.

I like to think that in those special moments, a transfusion of the souls takes place. For a brief time, more than words are exchanged. This rare event culminates in a new awareness and direct communication between the essential hearts, minds, and souls of the involved.

The acknowledgment of the transfer in that special moment is undeniable, leaving an embedded effect for the rest of their lives. One that enables them to induce a similar transfusion with another someday.
