Comparisons -- 03/05/10

All his soul mates influenced him deeply helping him to be a good husband, father, and friend to other people. In speaking to others on this topic over the years, he came to realize each soul mate always has a lasting impact on us. But not all soul mates impact us the same way or to the same degree. Some soul mates became lovers, others no.

He is faithfully married and loves his wife, but he loves her differently than his previous loves. They each loved him differently. That told him that love is given and arrives in many ways and not just one way. True love intensifies and evolves over time.

Each person's life is a complex combination of many aspects. It is hard enough for each of us to understand ourselves to a high degree of fidelity to the truth. It is much harder to understand another to that same degree, he thought. Soul mates can smooth out the rough edges of understanding.

He understood comparisons between people is normal but no two people are the same. It's important that a person loves another for who they are and not who they are compared to. That's the way he wanted to be loved. He's not perfect by any means, but he is unique as a total being and should be respected for that uniqueness.

He knows that to love another is not to be untrue to others remaining. Love is the key to what binds us to this life. Soul mates are a part of that binding.
