Middle Of The Road -- 10/12/09

He saw her for the first time while she was standing in the middle of the road. He remembers she spoke to him, but he didn't acknowledge her remarks.

Later the next year they ended up knowing each other pretty well at that time. The time they spent together was important, but misdirected intentions ensued. Their paths separated in time, their futures set into motion by the changing conditions of life.

The last time he saw her, he was standing in the middle of the road. She didn't acknowledge his parting remarks.

Usually the phrase the middle of the road is a way to indicate a compromise. In his case there was no compromise with her. It goes to show that the middle of the road can sometimes indicate the extremes of important life events.
