He can still feel her kiss even though their lips parted for the last time many, many years ago. He can see that special smile she had for only him when they were lovers. He can sense her touch across the time and distance that separates them now.

She was the one. Something about her held that special quality that made her irresistible to him. In all the parts of him that were not whole, she complemented completely. With her eyes looking into his, he found paradise.

How could such perfection slip away from him? Why didn't he do more to keep her by his side--forever? These questions haunt his heart relentlessly.

There is no way to get her back. That opportunity withered in the winds of time. She was the one that got away and left emptiness to take her place in his life. That realization never goes away.
