Second Wind -- 12/29/07

Her last exhalation was the deepest she ever experienced. In a breath her world changed and whatever she felt before about him stood pale in comparison to her new awareness about him. She is a living example of the phrase, "Out with the old, in with the new." How is it that only now did the barriers she fabricated to protect her heart, vanish in an instant?

It never occurred to her that the moment would arrive when a new way of feeling and then thinking would transcend her previous outlook on him, on her life. It is if she has been born again into a new world where her trust in him is implicit, where he plays an important role in her life going forward. No man previously ever made her see things this way.

She is not giving up anything in the transition, rather she is gaining it all. She is fulfilling her just revealed destiny without the slightest reluctance on her part. The thoughts of singular existence no longer applies to her. She is paired now with him as an equal where before, in hindsight, she was incomplete. The new life awaits her now, her old ways gone with her second wind.
